Visualizing

Yesterday we did a fun lesson about visualizing while we read. The book Good Dog Carl is a wordless picture book that is hilarious! Carl, the dog, is left in charge of the baby, and all sorts of trouble occurs!

At one point, there is a picture of the baby sitting in the top of the laundry shoot, and then the next picture is Carl running down the stairs and the baby in the clothes basket in the basement! The kids burst out laughing! We stopped there and I had them draw or write about what they visualized that made them laugh so hard.

When we started talking about visualizing, many kids insisted that they did not see pictures in their mind when they read. This lesson made the realize that they really do visualize!
